Voters Undecided About Biden? - By the Numbers... →
The comments on this blog post arrive at the crux of this argument: is Biden unknown because he is unremarkable, or because our knowledge of the members of the representative branch is so narrow (or at least localized)? Quick - how many senators can you name? Forget their parties or even their home states, just try to name 51. Can you do it?

Or ask, “Why do they insist on calling it ‘The National Football League’ when they’re trying to emphasize...

NY's Paterson: McCain campaign insinuates race... →
Okay, okay. Maybe it is code for “black,” or “socialist,” or “political militant.” But the Democrats would do better to point out that assailing community organizers is complete hypocrisy coming from the party that gave us the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. The same FBCI that both Obama and McCain support - with McCain calling it one of the...

McCain speech more watched than Obama's, Nielsen... →
These ratings stories pose a few questions to me. Most media (elite media, natch) report the ratings in conjuction with polling data and conclude that the race is a dead heat. I’m not so sure. First off, does it matter? Does convention viewership have any historical correlation to voter turnout? Second, viewer interest isn’t created in a vacuum. Weren’t many of those 40MM+...
